The association between a variant of the cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 2A/B gene and risk of cardiovascular disease

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the most common cause of morbidity and mortality globally. Despite progress being made in diagnosis treatment CVDs, one third deaths are due to CVDs. We have investigated association between rs1333049 polymorphism cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 2A/B (CDKN2A/B) gene with CVD outcomes a population sample recruited as part Mashhad-Stroke Heart-Atherosclerotic-Disorders (MASHAD) cohort. Five hundred nine individuals who had median follow-up period 10 years were MASHAD Anthropometric, biochemical parameters assessed followed by genotyping using TaqMan-real-time-PCR based method. Our data showed that carriers GG genotype significantly more likely develop CVD, compared those CC or CG genotypes (OR: 4.77, 95%CI: 2.62–8.68, p = 0.001). Similar result we also found second which follow up for years. In particular cases an event recessive genetic model (CC vs + GG) higher risk developing 5.57, 2.80–11.06, CDKN2A/B locus at increased representative population-based cohort, indicating further functional analysis explore value emerging marker stratification biomarker identify high cases.
